Xbox One games showcased at E3, release date announced

Xbox announced a new Halo game for Xbox One to be released sometime in 2014.

Xbox took the stage at the Galen Center in Los Angeles today to display all the new games and features gamers can expect for Xbox One during a press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3).

The press conference started off with a gameplay video of “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain” which showed off the games new open world experience.

Xbox announced multiple other games for Xbox One during the hour and a half long press event, including “Ryse: Son of Rome”, “Project Spark”, “Sunset Overdrive”, “Quantum Break” and “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” among others.

“It’s about the gamers,” said Microsoft Game Studios Game Head, Phil Spencer during an interview on E3 All Access Live on Spike TV after the press conference. “We had the game creators come out and talk about their games.”

“Forza 5″ made an appearance at the E3 event and showed off a new feature called a “Drive-A-tar” which will memorize the way you drive when you play the game to allow your character to race online and earn points even when you aren’t online.

The Xbox presser at E3 also showcased “Killer Instinct” while also showing off Xbox One’s new “Xbox Upload Studio”, which will allow gamers to edit and upload gameplay footage that is recorded by the systems built-in DVR.

Xbox also announced that they would bring bringing “Minecraft” to Xbox One, as well as “Dead Rising 3”, which will feature a new hero named Nick Ramos using everything in his environment as a weapon against zombie hordes. “Dead Rising 3” will also feature driving to help you get around in the new, no load time, open world.

“Battlefield 4” showed off uncut gameplay footage at E3 which showed off the new Frostbite 3 engine, while also announcing that Xbox One users will be the first ones to have access to “Battlefield 4”’s first downloadable content “Second Assault.”

Master Chief made a surprise appearance at Xbox’s E3 press conference when they announced a new Halo game for Xbox One, scheduled for release in 2014. The announcement came after a trailer was played showing a robed figure in the desert, later being shown as Master Chief.

Other news out of Xbox’s E3 presser is that Microsoft Points will be switching to local currencies later this year, as well as the announcement that Xbox Live Gold subscribers will receive two free Xbox 360 games per month until the release of Xbox One, with the first two games being “Assassin’s Creed II” and “Halo 3”.

Xbox One is scheduled to release in November of this year at $499 in the U.S., £429 in the U.K. and €499 in European markets.

“Now I’m excited to announce that Xbox One will launch this November in 21 markets around the world at $499 U.S.” said Spencer when officially announcing a release date for the next-gen console.

Noteworthy:

During the press conference Xbox announced the release of a new Xbox 360 with an entirely new design. The new Xbox 360 will come as a 4GB console for $199.99 US, a 250GB console for $299.99 US and a 4GB Kinect Bundle for $299.99 US.

Xbox also announced a new partnership with Twitchtv which will allow gamers to stream their games for people to watch.

World of Tanks will be released to Xbox Live Gold users for free this summer.
